JOIN US MARCH 14-17, 2024

The Greater Philly Yarn Crawl is organized by the Local Yarn Shops in Greater Philadelphia! The 2024 Greater Philly Yarn Crawl is our first-ever Philadelphia yarn crawl and we are so very excited to welcome you to this fun four-day event taking place March 14-17, 2024 across 16 shops. A yarn crawl is an organized event giving fiber craft enthusiasts the opportunity to visit the local yarn shops in the area. You can register for the crawl by pre-ordering a Passport ($5) or Passport/Tote ($20) that will be available for pick-up during the crawl at the first shop you plan to visit. We are so very excited to welcome our Greater Philadelphia yarn community to all of our shops!! By supporting the Greater Philadelphia Yarn Crawl you are supporting 16 small businesses! We appreciate this community and can’t wait to see you on the crawl this year - THANK YOU!

HOW IT WORKS

Once you’re registered for the yarn crawl and join our email list, you can expect to hear from the crawl team leading up to the event to provide shop highlights as well as important information and updates. The first day you plan to “crawl” with us you will visit the shop that you noted at your registration check-out and pick up your Printed Passport & Tote (if you ordered a tote too). From there, you can visit as many shops as you’d like and have your passport stamped at each spot along the way.

RAFFLE PRIZES & FREE PATTERNS!!

For folks that visit 10-16 shops, there will be instructions on your printed passport for how to digitally submit your completed passport to be considered for one of three raffle prizes; thanks to the very generous donations of our yarn community vendors & makers.

  • Grand Prize (visit 16 shops) - prize valued at over $750

  • Runner-up Prize (visit 13 shops) - prize valued at over $500

  • Second Runner-up Prize (visit 10 shops) - prize valued at over $250

If you are entered in the Grand Prize raffle and do not win you will be entered automatically in the Runner-up raffle (and if you don’t win that, the Second Runner-up raffle). Same goes for folks that visit 13 shops; if you don’t win the Runner-up raffle you will automatically be entered in the Second Runner-up raffle. You do not need to submit your physical passport booklet at the end of the crawl (it’s yours to keep and remember the fun times you had yarn-crawling) just follow the instructions in the printed passport for digital submission.

All of the participating shops will have their own shop-specific raffle valued at $150 that every crawl visitor can enter if they make a purchase (of any size) at the shop! Shops will also be giving out a FREE shop-specific pattern when you get your passport stamped for visiting; no purchase required. Some shops may have other giveaways, pop-ups, special yarns, and kits for this event. Please check shop-specific websites and social media for details about these special products and events.

FUNDRAISING

5% of the revenue generated through your crawl registration will go to the Loose Ends Project. Loose Ends aims to ease grief, create community, and inspire generosity by matching volunteer handwork finishers with projects people have left unfinished due to death or disability. When a crafter dies mid-project, or is no longer able to do handwork due to disability or illness, they will likely have unfinished items they were making for friends and family. These tangible, handmade expressions of love could get lost, donated away, or thrown out. Loose Ends Project matches unfinished projects to volunteer finishers who complete and return the garments, blankets, & accessories, to their loved ones.

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?

Anyone! If you’re interested in learning more about the many wonderful, creative, and diverse local yarn shops and fiber craft community in Greater Philadelphia this is the event for you. We ask that folks participating in the crawl agree to contribute to a positive, safe, and inclusive event - this includes customers, shop owners/staff, and vendors - in the interest of upholding the collective wellbeing of the community. If you are a new local yarn shop in the Greater Philadelphia area please don’t hesitate to reach out about participating in the next crawl!
